Men's Hoops Falls to #3 DU

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team dropped an 88-55 decision to third-ranked Davenport in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference competition on Wednesday.

Lee Gardner III was the Saints' leading scorer, finishing with 12 points and six rebounds. Tyler Leighton added eight points and seven rebounds while George Goodman contributed eight points as well.

The host Panthers (9-1, 5-0) snapped an 8-all tie with 12 consecutive points -- courtesy of five different scorers. From there, DU built a 46-25 halftime lead and held on from there.

Thomas Drew scored 15 points to lead Davenport while Dominez Burnett, Bishop Robinson and Nick Gamble put in 14, 12 and 11 points, respectively. Robinson and Jason Jordan grabbed seven rebounds each.

As a team, Siena Heights went 20 of 60 from the field (33.3 percent), including 1 of 14 from three-point territory (7.1 percent). The Panthers were 34 of 70 (48.6 percent) and 9 of 23 (39.1 percent), respectively.

Davenport outrebounded SHU, 54-37.

The Saints (6-5, 3-2) will return to action on Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. WHAC contest against Concordia.
