SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- George Goodman compiled 16 points and six assists for the Siena Heights men's basketball team in its 65-59 loss to Spring Arbor in non-conference action on Wednesday.

Stone Beckwith added 11 points and Christian Covile contributed nine points and nine rebounds for the Saints (2-2).

Siena Heights trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half before closing its deficit to 41-40 in the second.

With an 11-2 run, the host Cougars (5-0) stretched their lead to 52-42 before a Goodman-led effort got SHU back into the contest.

Goodman scored six points during a stretch in which SHU outscored SAU, 13-5, and trimmed the Cougars' lead to 57-55 with 1:01 to go. That was as close as the Saints would get as Spring Arbor outscored them the rest of the way, 8-4.

Collin Hewitt and Greg Hamilton had 13 and 11 points, respectively, for Spring Arbor. Xavier Prather added 10 points, Thomas Starks made eight rebounds and Caleb Hogans dished six assists.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday with their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener against Marygrove. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
