Five Saint Football Players Named 2018 Daktronics NAIA Football Scholar-Athletes

2018 Daktronics NAIA Football Scholar-Athletes Announced

KANSAS CITY -- Seniors Brady Tanguay, Izayah Newsom, and fifth-year senior Adam Glanders along with third-year sophomores Justin Carrabino and Nicholas Pagano were named 2018 Daktronics NAIA Football Scholar-Athletes by the national office.

Tanguay and Newsom made the list for the second time in their career while the others join the list for the first time. This year's list features 392 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA). In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.

Taylor (Ind.) had 15 student-athletes on the list to lead the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mid-East League (MEL) members. Saint Francis (Ind.) was second in the MEL with 10 scholar-athletes while Concordia (Mich.) was third in the league with seven. Siena had the fourth-most in the MEL with five scholar-athletes. Marian (Ind.) followed with four members and Lindenwood-Belleville had one student-athlete selected.

In the Mid-West League (MWL) Robert Morris (Ill.) led with 12 scholar-athletes. Saint Xavier (Ill.) had six followed by Olivet Nazarene with five. Saint Francis (Ill.) was next with one and Saint Ambrose rounded out the MWL representatives with one.
