Football Dominates Lindenwood-Belleville in MSFA MEL Action

LINDENWOOD, Ill. – Seven different Saints scored in the Siena Heights football 48-0 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville in Mid-States Football Association action, on Saturday.

The lone score in the first quarter came from Brady Tanguay as he sent one 22 yards through the uprights, making it 3-0 in the Saints' favor. With a big 48-yard run, D'aries Davis scored the first SHU touchdown with 9:25 on the clock in the second quarter.

Tanguay again had a 40-yard field goal to put the Saints up 13-0 with 2:35 remaining in the second. To end the first half, quarterback Ryan Brennan ran four yards into the end zone, giving SHU a 20-0 lead.

With 4:17 remaining in the third quarter, Ryan Bush made a 2-yard reception from Brennan. Only three plays later, Griffen Sobol intercepted a Peter Smith pass to put Siena Heights back in possession. Brennan then threw four yards to DaWan Smith II at the 2:06 mark to make it 34-0.

Nick Stalworth forced and recovered a LU-Belleville fumble to give the Saints the ball on their own 17-yard line. SHU continued their march down the field, taking over seven minutes off the clock to result in a Ronnie Giles Jr. one-yard run touchdown with 8:59 left in the game.

Again, Siena Heights (5-4, 3-2 MSFA MEL) forced a fumble, this time it was Otis Doss knocking the ball out and recovering it from LUB's Steven Blocker. Quarterback Garrett Schaller found the hands of Mitchel Meger for the final touchdown of the day at the 4:14 mark in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Brennan threw 166 yards for the Saints, finding D. Davis for 85 yards in three receptions and Damon Wright Jr. for 57 yards in five receptions. LUB quarterback Smith threw for 69 yards, Steven Blocker making two catches for 51 yards.

On the ground, D. Davis ran for 132 yards in 18 attempts to lead the Saints. Meger ran another 55 yards in eight carries for SHU. Jamal Cooper went 76 yards for the Lynx.

Defensively, Stalworth and Andrew Loria each made four tackles for Siena Heights. For the Lynx (0-9, 0-5 MSFA MEL) Clayton Nickerson managed eight tackles while Carvon Culton earned seven tackles.

The Saints dominant performance shows in first downs, SHU earning 29 while Lindenwood-Belleville only had nine. Siena Heights managed 585 yards overall compared to only 188 yards for the Lynx. Tanguay went 6-6 in PATs and 2-2 in field goals.

Siena Heights will end their regular season at MSFA MEL opponent No. 15 Concordia on Saturday, Nov. 11. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.
