Blackmon Sets School Record with Eleven Receptions, But Football Falls to Saint Joe's

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Wide receiver Reggie Blackmon set a single-game school record for receptions, making 11 catches during the Siena Heights football team's 27-7 loss to NCAA Division II opponent Saint Joseph's (Ind.) on Saturday at O'Laughlin Stadium.

Blackmon finished with 11 grabs for 79 yards while wide receiver Raphael Dunson added seven receptions for 63 yards for the Saints (0-2), who never recovered from an early 17-0 deficit.

Dunson had a TD run while quarterback Travis Zajkowski completed 25 of 44 passes for 198 yards and two interceptions. Zajkowski set a single-game record himself for completions.

The Saints ran only four plays on offense before finding themselves down, 14-0. An interception on the first play of scrimmage and a blocked punt set SHU back.

The visiting Pumas (2-0) scored their first two touchdowns on a 3-yard run by running back James Wilson and a 15-yard run from running back Kobi Cook.

A 38-yard field goal by SJC kicker Gavin Voss helped Saint Joseph's increase its lead to 17-0 before halftime.

The Saints pushed across their first points of 2014 on a 3-yard run by Dunson with 11:51 left in the third quarter. The score finished off a 12-play, 66-yard drive for SHU.

Saint Joe's closed out the scoring with 10 fourth-quarter points, getting a 42-yard field goal from Voss and an 8-yard hookup from quarterback Tate Borlik to tight end Tyler Callaghan.

Siena Heights, which managed only 67 yards rushing, was led on the ground by Ja'Tice K. Shaw II, who had seven carries for 31 yards.

Through the air, tight end Donovan Campbell made three catches for 46 yards and wide receiver Damola Adebiyi compiled three receptions for 24 yards.

For the SHU defense, defensive back Cha'Quan D. Love had 6 1/2 tackles, including one for-loss. Defensive linemen Chavon Watts and Kyle Connors (1 1/2 TFLs) added 5 1/2 tackles each.

Linebacker Cody Perkins forced a fumble which fellow linebacker Allen Jefferson recovered.

Saint Joe's had two rushers eclipse the 100-yard mark. Running back Braxton Shelton had 19 carries for 120 yards while fellow running back added seven runs for 105. Two other running backs -- Kobi Cook and James Wilson -- had TD runs.

SJC quarterback Tate Borlik was 15 of 30 for 136 yards and the one TD. Wide receiver Alphonso Hines finished with four catches for 46 yards.

On defense for SJC, linebacker Wilky Orelein compiled 6 1/2 tackles, including one sack, one forced fumble and a blocked punt.
