Rocket League Highlights Big Week for SHU eSports

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights eSports teams were in action this past week in a number of tournaments and competitions. The Rocket League team highlighted the week with a final four appearance in the Collegiate Star League (CSL) Fall Tournament #2.

The Rocket League team was given a 12% chance of winning in the first round and defied the odds to make it all the way to the final four in a tournament that featured 109 teams from across the country.

The Saints swept all six opponents they defeated in the tournament, 2-0, (Utah State, College of Charleston, Purdue, Colorado, Minnesota, West Virginia) before being knocked out the competition by the defending national champions LSU. Three of the SHU Rocket League games were streamed live by the CSL and each competition had an audience of nearly 20,000 people. The team travels to Shawnee State in Portsmouth, Ohio on Thursday and Friday to compete in a LAN competition.

The Hearthstone eSports team also won its debut competition last Tuesday over the University of Wyoming 2-1. The Hearthstone team will compete tomorrow (Tuesday) night in the next round of the open tournament.

The Saint Blue Overwatch team went 1-1 on the week with a 2-1 win over Trine University and a 2-1 loss to Washington State. Both Overwatch teams are on a bye this coming week.
