Siena Heights senior cheerleader Safiya Best was named one of the 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the second year in a row.
Best, a chemistry major, is presented this award for excelling in the classroom.
She was also named All-WHAC Academic Team for the 2016-17 season and was an Academic All-WHAC honoree in 2016.
The NAIA recognizes 60 competitive cheerleaders for this award. To be nominated the athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and must have achieved junior academic status.
