Junior Safiya Best and senior Celsey Robinette of the Siena Heights competitive cheerleading team were recognized as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the NAIA recently.
Best is a chemistry major and a criminal justice minor.
Robinette majors in social work.
Both Best and Robinette were also recognized as 2016 Academic All-WHAC honorees.
In order to be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status. A total of 78 cheer and dance athletes were recognized.
