Saints End Season With Split Over Madonna

Adrian, Mich. – The Siena Heights baseball team ended the season with a split over Madonna.

THE BASICS

Final Scores: Game 1: Siena Heights 2, Madonna 10, Game 2: Siena Heights 14, Madonna 10

Location: Livonia, Michigan

Records: Siena Heights (20-22, WHAC 10-12), Madonna (32-18, WHAC 15-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1:

Madonna got on the board first in the 1st inning when they scored three runs. Then in the 2nd inning, the Crusaders scored three more runs to go ahead 6-0. SHU got their first runs in the 4th inning when they scored on a Madonna error. Then in the 5th the Saints scored again on a Brenden Green sacrifice groundout to make the score 6-2. Madonna was able to score four more runs in the bottom of the 5th and hold on to a 10-2 lead to win the game.

TOP SAINTS

Game 2:

The Crusaders got on the board quick in the first inning. Then SHU scored on a two RBI single by Connor McCoy to make the game 3-2. Madonna scored again in the 3rd to make the game 4-2 but then the Saints took the lead in the 4th. Collin Bammer had a sacrifice fly to score a run then Brendan Green had a two RBI single to put SHU up 5-4. Siena had a big inning in the 7th when they put up eight runs in the inning. It started by a Weston Cook RBI single then Nate Fyrz had a RBI and Collin Bammer walked with bases loaded to go ahead 8-4. SHU continued scoring in that inning when Snyder Torres had a RBI single and Brenden Baker walked with bases loaded. After that Green had another two RBI hit and McCoy had a RBI single. After Madonna scored in the 7th it was 13-5 Saints heading into the 8th inning. The Crusaders tried to make a comeback by scoring in the 8th and 9th but Siena held them off to win the game.
