Lake Wales, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team beat (24) Kieser Seahawks this morning followed by a close loss to (Rv) Warner.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1:

The Saints started off early on the scoreboard when they were able to push some runs across in the 1st inning. Brendan Baker and Brenden Green had back to back hits to set up their scoring chance. Connor McCoy would hit a RBI single to open up the scoring and make it a 1-0 game. Ryley Overacker was the next hitter up and he would hit a sacrifice fly to score Green from third making the game 2-0.

Kieser would respond back in the bottom half of the inning by scoring a run to make it 2-1. However, the Saints pitching staff lead by Tristan Roth held the Seahawks to no more runs in the game. Roth started the game and went four innings, give up one run, and striking out six. Rob Oliver came out of the bullpen and threw two hitless inning with three strikeouts. Ayden Hannan threw the 7th and 8th inning for SHU then Reid Olmstead came in for the save.

Siena scored again in the 6th inning when Nic Olson hit a base hit up the middle to score Logan Nolff.

Top Saints:

  • Brendan Baker went 2-4 with a run scored

  • Nic Olson had one hit, one RBI, and one walk on the day

  • Connor McCoy and Ryley Overacker each had one hit and one RBI on the day

  • Logan Nolff and Brenden Green added one hit a piece to the Saints box score

The Seahawks

  • Ezequias Encarnacion went 3-4 on the day

  • Garrett Hall had one hit and one RBI

Game 2:

Game two was a close fought game by both teams. Warner scored the first two runs on the game when they scored one in the 2nd inning and one in the 3rd.

The Saints would get on the board in the 5th inning when Weston Cook scored of a ball hit by Brenden Green. In the 6th inning Cook had a big single down the left field line to score Logan Nolff and tie the game up at 2.

The Saints could not hold off the Royals as they were able to plate a run in the bottom of the 7th and win the game.

  • Weston Cook went 2-3 with a RBI and run scored

  • Brenden Green had two hits and a RBI

  • Connor McCoy added two hits for the Saints

The Saints will participate in the Warner Invitational in Lake Wales, Fla. on March 7th, 8th, and 9th. The first set of games on Thursday, March 7th is against Warner at 12:30 and then game 2 is against Mount Vernon Nazarene with first pitch at 3:30 pm.
