Siena Heights Baseball 2018 Season Recap

The Siena Heights baseball team ended the 2018 season with an overall record of 18-34 and a 9-19 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference record. SHU finished the season at ninth in the WHAC.

Honored as the Most Valuable Player was junior first baseman Brendan Green, presented by head coach John Kolasinski. He held a .992 fielding percentage while earning 358 putouts and 17 assists with only three errors to lead the Saints. He is the lone Saint to start every game this season and managed a .357 batting average with a .416 on base percentage in 207 at-bats. Green was also named Second Team All-WHAC and was the WHAC Gold Glove winner at first base.

Also earned second team All-WHAC honors was senior shortstop Freddy Jehle and junior outfielder Brenden Baker. Named Google Cloud Academic All-District, presented by CoSIDA, was Riley Guntrip, Reid Olmstead and Green.

Earning most improved was Riley Guntrip while Dan Gallatin received the Coach's Award.

Thirteen Saints were named to the WHAC All-Academic Team while nine Saints earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete status. Honored by both the NAIA and the WHAC was Carson Wlad, Cameron Best, Delver Freites, Riley Guntrip, Jacob Jones, Reid Olmstead, Jesse Stires, Snyder Torres, Brenden Baker and Brendan Green.  Ryley Overacker, Erich Klingelhofer, Landon Lumbrezer and Snyder Torres were honored by the WHAC.
