Baseball Falls to Hillsdale in Non-Conference Match-Up

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team hosted Hillsdale in a non-conference match-up on Thursday evening. The Saints dropped the contest 13-11 after a strong come back that just was not enough. 

Hillsdale jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three and a half innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Siena Heights scored their first run of the game and started heating up. In the fifth and the seventh, SHU scored five runs in each and was able to tie up the ball game at 11. The Chargers scored one in the eighth and the ninth but the Saints did not have an answer. 

Brendan Green led the Saints at the plate, batting 4-for-5 and scoring two runs. Riley Guntrip, Deric Cain, Jacob Jones and Ryley Overacker each contributed a team best, two RBI's.

Marcus Beeson got the start on the mound for Siena Heights and pitched three innings. Next on the mound for SHU was Ayden Hannon and then Wyatt West. West finished with a team high, four strike outs and pitched 3.2 innings. Closing out the contest and suffering the loss on the mound was Michael Jones.

For the Chargers, Kevin Monson led the way, batting 4-for-5 while scoring four runs and finishing with one RBI. Pitcher for Hillsdale, Kolton Rominski earned the win and David Toth scored the save. 

Next up, Siena Heights baseball will host Indiana Tech in the final regular season series of the season this weekend. The Saints and Warriors will face off in a double-header on Saturday and a solo conference contest on Sunday with a non-conference game to follow. The action will kick off at 1 p.m. on both days.
