Northwestern Ohio Defeats Baseball in Final Game of the WHAC Series

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team hosted Northwestern Ohio in the final game of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference series on Wednesday. The Saints dropped the contest and was swept by the Racers in the series. 

Steady scoring by UNOH helped them to an 8-0 lead after seven innings. Finally in the eighth, SHU crossed the plate four times to decrease the deficit to four runs and make it an 8-4 ball game. But the Racer offense picked back up as they scored five more runs in the ninth frame and recorded five more hits. The Saints did not have an answer and fell to the Racers. 

Deric Cain led the Saints batting, finishing 3-for-3 at the plate and recording one RBI. Riley Guntrip saw success at the plate, batting 3-for-4. Carson Wlad, Ryley Overacker, Freddy Jehle and Kevin Ketvirtis scored the four SHU runs while Brenden Baker, Jack Slavin, Cain and Ketvirtis recorded the four RBI's for Siena Heights. 

On the mound, the Saints started Robert Oliver III who went two innings and suffered the loss. Next on the mound for the Saints was Michael Jones (2.0 innings), Reid Olmstead (1.0 inning), Wyatt West (2.0 innings), Tristan Roth (1.0 inning) and finally Jayson Cleghorn (1.0 inning). Roth led SHU with three strike outs in his one inning pitched. 

Jack Barrie led the Racers at the plate, batting 3-for-4 -- including two home runs -- and also scoring two runs and three RBI's. Jacob Lundin got the start at pitcher for UNOH and went 3.1 innings and earned the win. Lundin also led Northwestern Ohio with four strike outs. 

Next up, the Saints will host Hillsdale in a non-conference contest on Thursday, April 26. First pitch is set to be thrown at 6 p.m.
