Baseball Drops Two to Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team took on Concordia in a double-header on Sunday. Game one was the final game of a three game Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference series, with game two being played as a non-conference contest. The Saints dropped both to the Cardinals.

GAME ONE: SHU 6, CUAA 11
A big six run, third inning helped Concordia pull away. The Saints knocked in four runs in the ninth, but it was not enough to complete the rally. Kevin Ketvirtis finished 2-for-4 at the plate, also scoring two runs and knocking in one RBI. Brendan Green finished with a team best, two RBI's in the contest. 

Tristan Roth got the start at pitcher for Siena Heights and went 2.2 innings and suffered the loss. Wyatt West came in for relief and pitched 2.1 innings before Marcus Beeson went in for the final three innings for SHU. 

For the Cardinals, Ben Balgaard batted 3-for-4 while scoring two runs and a game high, five RBI's. Pitcher Brendan Lyons earned the win on the mound for CUAA.

GAME TWO: SHU 8, CUAA 11
The Cardinals scored steadily throughout the early innings, but another big, seven run inning for CUAA in the fifth, dug a big hole for the Saints. SHU drove in six runs in the seventh, but again was not enough. 

Brendan Green finished 4-for-5 at the plate, while scoring one run and knocking in a SHU high, four RBI's. Weston Cook helped, batting 2-for-4 and scoring two runs of his own. Robert Oliver III started on the mound for SHU and suffered the loss, pitching six innings. Oliver was relieved by Jayson Cleghorn before Nic Olson came in for the final 2.0 innings. 

Ben Balgaard finished 3-for-3 batting, scored two runs and finished with three RBI's. Gabriel Guevara earned the win on the mound for Concordia, pitching four innigs.
