Baseball Wins Two Over Lourdes

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team resumed play from it's April 9 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up with Lourdes that was suspended in a 4-4 tie after nine innings. Following the completion of the suspended game, the Saints and Gray Wolves played a solo, non-conference contest. The Saints finished the day 2-0.

Resumed game from 4/9: Siena Heights 6, Lourdes 5 - 10 innings
In the top of the tenth, Lourdes scored one run to take the lead for the first time since the fifth inning. In the bottom of the inning, Brenden Baker doubled and drove in Logan Nolff to tie the ball game. Later, Deric Cain flied out to center field, but Kevin Ketvirtis was able to score from third and regain the lead and end the ball game. 

Brendan Green and Brenden Baker each finished 2-for-5 at the plate. Baker finished with one RBI while Green finished with one run. Jack Slavin led the Saints with two runs scored. Riley Guntrip and Logan Nolff recorded two RBI's each. Pitcher Taylor Acquista started and went four innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out two. Michael Jones came in for relief and pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out five.

Game two: Siena Heights 11, Lourdes 9
After three innings the ball game was tied at six a piece. A big fourth inning was the difference maker for SHU, scoring five runs and earning a healthy lead. Lourdes threatened by scoring one in the fifth and two in the sixth, but the Saints were able to hold them off for the win. 

Jack Slavin finished 3-for-4 batting while scoring a team high three runs and adding two RBI's. Brenden Baker led the Saints with three RBI's and batted 2-for-3. Tristan Roth started on the mound and went one inning. Marcus Beeson was next on the mound for Siena Heights, pitching 3 innings before being replaced by Wyatt West and Jayson Cleghorn. Beeson earned the win while Cleghorn was awarded the save. 

Next Up
The Saints will travel to take on Concordia in a WHAC series this weekend. SHU and CUAA will face off in a double-header on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and a solo contest on Sunday with a first pitch set for 1 p.m.
