Baseball Drops Contest to Aquinas in WHAC Play

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team traveled to take on Aquinas in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Tuesday. The Saints dropped the contest, 6-5.

SHU (13-21 6-9 WHAC) opened scoring, crossing the plate twice in the first. Aquinas quickly responded and gained control after scoring three runs in the second. Siena Heights was able to tie up the game in the fifth before both teams scored two in the seventh. Finally Aquinas scored in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with the victory. 

The Saints were led at the plate by Kevin Ketvirtis, batting 4-for-4. Deric Cain scored a team high, two runs while Riley Guntrip finished with a team leading three RBI's. Tristan Roth started on the mound for SHU and went seven innings, allowing five earned runs and striking out nine. Robert Oliver III came in and pitched the final 1.1 innings and suffered the loss. 

Tyler Davis led Aquinas (13-19, 5-11 WHAC), batting 2-for-3 and scoring three runs. Davis also finished with a team high, two RBI's. Max Ludka started at pitcher for the Saints and went 6.2 innings. Walter Graf pitched the final 2.1 innings and earned the win. 

Next up, the Saints will face off against St. Francis (Ind.) on Wednesday, April 11 in a single game at 3:00 p.m.
