Baseball Defeats Spring Arbor, Falls to Mount Vernon Nazarene in Day Two of Warner Tournament

LAKE WALES, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team took part in day two of the Warner University Tournament. The Saints faced off against Spring Arbor and defeated the Cougars, 7-5, before falling to Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio), 7-3.

GAME ONE: Siena Heights 7, Spring Arbor 5
After three innings, Siena Heights led the ball game, 4-1. In the fourth, the Cougars scored two and brought the score to within one. SHU scored three more and was able to hold SAU to just two in the seventh to secure the victory.

Brendan Green led the way for Siena Heights finishing 3-for-4 at the plate, also scoring one run and contributing four RBI's. Freddy Jehle batted 2-for-3 to go with two runs and one RBI. Thomas Lindeman started on the mound and went 3.2 innings and struck out five, before being relieved by Dan Gallatin. Gallatin pitched the final 3.1 innings and earned the win. 

GAME TWO: Siena Heights 3, Mount Vernon Nazarene 7
Mount Vernon Nazarene scored steadily thoughout the ball game. The Saints were not able to gain any traction, only scoring one run in the first, fourth and sixth. After MVNU jumped out to a 5-1 lead atfer three innings, SHU was not able to recover.

Freddy Jehle finished 3-for-4 at the plate and scored one of the three Siena Heights runs. Thomas Lindeman contributed a team high, two RBI's. Wyatt West started at pitcher and went 4.1 innings, suffering the loss. Marcus Beeson came in for relief and pitched the final 1.2 innings.

Next Up
The Saints finish the first two days of the tournament with the sixth seed. On Saturday, Mar. 10, SHU will take on the seventh seed, Thomas (Ga.) at 9:30 a.m.
