Baseball Falls to #19 Indiana Tech in a Solo Contest

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Siena Heights baseball team got in five innings of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action against before the game was called due to the rain, on Friday. Nineteenth-ranked Indiana Tech earned the win 9-5. the second game of the double-header was moved to Saturday.

Opening the scoring in the first inning was Indiana Tech with a lone run followed by three runs in the scond inning. SHU tacked on a run in the top of the third to make it 4-1.

The Warriors pushed one run across in the third and four in the fourth inning to lead the Saints 9-1. Siena Heights added three on in the top of the fifth to cut the Warriors lead down to 9-4 before the game was called after a two-hour rain delay.

Opening on the mound for the Saints (16-31, 12-16 WHAC) was Kyle Kuhr, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out two batters while allowing eight hits and eight runs (six earned). He was relieved in the fourth inning by Robert Oliver III, allowing three hits and one run. On the mound for all five innings for Indiana Tech (37-10, 21-6 WHAC) was Johnny Crawford. Crawford struckout seven batters while allowing seven hits and four runs.

With two hits for SHU was Freddy Jehle and Brendan Green, both earning two RBIs a piece.

Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday in a WHAC double-header. Opening pitch is set for noon.
