Baseball Tops Spring Arbor in Non-Conference Play

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team earned an 8-4 victory over Spring Arbor in non-conference action, on Tuesday.

The Saints (14-25) started out the scoring with a run from Freddy Jehle, sent in by Ty Schafer. SHU quickly responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first and a run in the second and third, taking a 4-1 lead.

In the fourth inning, Siena Heights broke down the Cougars' pitching and pushed six runs across the plate to take over the lead at 7-4. SHU added another run in the sixth and held on as Spring Arbor (17-24) was unable to respond.

Going 3-for-3 on the day was Jehle, scoring twice and earning an RBI. Kevin Ketvirtis went 2-for-4 while earning three RBIs and scoring twice. Nate Fryz and Schafer eat earned multiple hits and an RBI.

Reid Olmstead earned the win on the hill for the Saints with four strikeouts snd allowing only six hits in five full innings of action. Tristan Roth relieved him in the sixth inning before Ben Finn came in to close in the final inning. Suffering the loss for Spring Arbor was Drew Weston.

SHU will return to action on Wednesday when the Saints take on Cleary in a non-conference double-header. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
