Baseball Falls to Adrian in Walk-Off Fashion

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team fell 5-4 to a walk-off single by crosstown rival Adrian in a non-conference contest, on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the first inning with a lone runner crossing the plate. Freddy Jehle answered with a triple to start the third inning and scored the tying run, followed by Ryley Overacker to take a 2-1 lead. Overacker and Brenden Baker earning RBIs.

In the fourth inning, SHU (13-22) pushed one run across the plate while the Bulldogs (18-6) scored two, tying the score 3-3. Siena Heights took over 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning as Baker stole home. AC loaded the bases with no outs. Ryan Dorow sent a single up the middle to send two Bulldogs home and earn the 5-4 victory.

Baker led the Saints, going 4-for-5 at the plate while scoring once and earning an RBI. Ian Mikowski went 2-for-3 for Adrian, scoring three times.

Starting on the mound for the Saints was Tristan Roth, who threw two innins before being relieved by Robert Oliver III in the third inning. Oliver suffered the loss, allowing the winning runs on base. Closing the game for SHU was Landon Lumbrezer, who allowed the final two hits of the game. Five different Bulldogs saw time on the hill, Trevor Stevens earning the win for AC.

The Saints will be back to WHAC action tomorrow in a single game at Cornerstone. Opening pitch is set for 3 p.m.
