Baseball Sweeps Triple-Header With Marygrove in WHAC Contests

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team hosted Marygrove in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference triple-header on Sunday where the Saints swept the Mustangs.

GAME ONE - Siena Heights 12, Marygrove 1
Siena Heights jumped out to a four run lead after the first inning then scored five runs and three runs in the fifth and sixth innings respectively. The Mustangs scored their lone run in the seventh.

John Watts finished 4-for-4, scoring two runs and knocking in two RBI's. Carson Wlad hit two doubles and added two RBI's. Alex Robbins also completed the game with two RBI's.

Kyle Kuhr was the Saints winning pitcher pitching seven innings, allowing five hits and giving up one earned run.

GAME TWO - Siena Heights 5, Marygrove 4
The Saints led after one with a score of 4-2. In the fifth and sixth innings, the Mustangs scored one run in each and tied the ball game. The Saints loaded the bases and Marygrove walked Matthew Bondy to allow Freddy Jehle to score the winning run.

Freddy Jehle went 2-for-3, scoring two runs. Carson Wlad and Matthew Bondy knocked in three and two RBI's respectively.

Ben Finn came in to relieve Taylor Acquista and pitched two innings to earn the win.

GAME THREE - Siena Heights 8, Marygrove 7
Marygrove started the game scoring four runs in the first inning. The Saints were able to score one in the fourth, and another one and three in the fifth and sixth innings respectively to take the lead.

The Mustangs scored three in the seventh before SHU scored another two to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Neither team scored in the eighth, and the Saints', Jehle scored on a sacrifice fly by John Watts.

Jehle went 3-for-4, with two RBI's, a stolen base and scored five runs. Brenden Baker and Carson Wlad also finished with two RBI's.

Landon Lumbrezer earned the win for the Saints, pitching 2.1 innings.

The Saints will be back in action on Wednesday, Mar. 22, when they travel to take on Hillsdale in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
