Bondy Homerun Not Enough as Baseball Falls to Spring Arbor

BABSON PARK, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team fell 8-2 in seven innings of action to Spring Arbor, on Monday.

In the first inning, Spring Arbor pushed one run across the plate. SHU loaded the bases in the top of the second with no outs but were unable to convert.

Matthew Bondy sent one over the left field fence to put the Saints (6-6) on top at 2-1 in the top of the third. The Cougars responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fourth to take the 3-2 lead.

Starting on the mound for the Saints was Erich Klingelhofer, taking the loss with four earned runs against and two strikeouts. He was relieved by Robert Oliver III who four runs against and one strikeout.

Earning two hits a piece for SHU was Brendan Green and Bondy. Chris Triplett and Jack Driscoll earned two hits for the Cougars. SAU out-hit Siena Heights 9-6.

Spring Arbor (4-8) sealed the deal in the bottom of the fifth, sending five runners home.

SHU will be back in action on Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. non-conference contest.
