Baseball Ends Inaugural Fall Season 6-3 in WHAC Play

The Siena Heights baseball team ended its first countable fall season with a 6-3 record overall and 6-3 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action. SHU played a three game series against three different opponents, winning two of three games in every series. These opponents were 22nd-ranked Madonna, Lawrence Tech and Rochester.

On Sunday, SHU concluded its fall season with a 3-2 victory over Lawrence Tech in 10 innings. SHU trailed 2-1 going into the bottom of the 10, but were able to come back from behind and win in extras thanks to a walk off single by catcher Emmanuel Gimenez.

Erich Klingelhofer led the Saints in wins with a 3-0 record and also recorded a save in 9.2 innings pitched in four appearances.

Sophomore Reid Olmstead led the Siena Heights' pitching staff with 19 innings pitched in three starts. Olmstead finished the fall season with a 1-1 record and a 3.32 earned run average while leading the Saints' pitching staff with 11 strikeouts.

Ben Finn made four appearances out of the bullpen and finished with a 1.93 ERA, one win and team-leading two saves in 4.2 innings pitched. Taylor Acquista also finished the fall season with a win.

Kevin Ketvirtis led the Saints with a .429 batting average while Brendan Baker was the leader with three doubles, six runners batted in, 13 total bases and a .591 slugging percentage.

Matthew Bondy led SHU with 37 at-bats while John Watts led the team with 10 hits.

Brendan Green and Ryley Overacker each scored seven runs apiece.

Eleven different players finished the fall season with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Siena Heights will look to build off of this fall season when they travel to Florida for the annual Spring Break trip, where the Saints will take on several teams in non-conference action.
