Homecoming Baseball Ends in Split with Rochester

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split against Rochester in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action, on Saturday. The Saints won the first game, 13-12, and dropped game two, 8-2.

In game one, the Saints put the pressure on RC early, going up 7-1 after the first two innings. Rochester responded with four runs in the top of the third while SHU added one in the bottom of the third.

Rochester (3-5, 3-5) fought back, making it 13-10 at the top of the seventh. But SHU held strong, allowing only one run in both the eighth and the ninth. Siena Heights made the final out tagging the tying RC runner out at third base.

Kyle Kuhr started game one on the mound, allowing eight hits, eight runs and earning four strike outs. Erich Klingelhofer took home the win for SHU while Ben Finn earned the save.

For the Saints (5-3, 5-3), Ryley Overacker and Brenden Baker each earned three RBIs while going 2-for-4.

Chris McKiddie took the loss on the mound for SHU in game two. He threw for six innings, earning three strikeouts and allowing one hit. Relief appearances were made by Nic Olson, Tristan Roth and Landon Lumbrezer.

The only runs scored in the first six innings were by Rochester, who pushed two across in the third. The Warriors found their stride, putting up a total of five runs in the final three innings, which the Saints only response was two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Kevin Ketvirtis led the Saints, going 3-for-4 while scoring one run for SHU. Scoring Siena Heights' other run was Ty Schafer, who went 2-for-4.

Siena Heights will be back in action when the Saints host Rochester on Sunday for a 2 p.m. game.
