Saints drop season finale at Davenport

Grand Rapids, Mich - The Saints baseball team dropped their final two games of the season at Davenport, 9-5 and 6-5.

In game one, the Saints plated five runs in the third inning to jump out to a 5-1 lead.  The Panthers did not go away as they scored two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.  Then they added single runs in the seventh and eighth, to win 9-5.

Freddy Jehle led the Saints offense with three hits in five at bats with a double.  Austin Forsythe went 2-for-4 with a run scored.  Driving in runs for the Saints were Jehle, Brendan Green, Travis Stricklin, John Watts, and Carson Wlad.

Reid Olmstead took the loss for the Saints as he gave up the eventual winning run in relief of Saints starter Kyle Kuhr.

In game two, SHU lost after giving up a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.  The Panthers managed to score three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to win the game 6-5.

Thomas McCarter pitched the entire game allowing just four earned runs on 13 hits, while striking out a pair.

Daniel Muller led the Saints going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Stricklin went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.  Trenton Shindorf was credited with the other SHU RBI.

The finish out their season at 19-34 overall and 10-22 in the WHAC.
