Rain Cuts Baseball Double-Header Short

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a 5-1 decision to Indiana Tech in a conference contest, on Saturday. Game two of the scheduled double-header was cancelled due to the rain.

Of the scheduled nine-inning first game set to be played only six full innings were played, which means the first six innings count towards the final score.

The first three innings were silent on both sides, even though the Warriors managed to get the bases loaded in the bottom of the first they could not capitalize.

Siena (19-28, 10-16) opened the scoring in the fourth inning after Zack Dunlop, Matthew Bondy and Travis Sticklin loaded the bases. Austin Hauck pushed Alex Robbins, running for Dunlop, home.

The Warriors (29-16, 13-12) responded with a run of their own in the fourth, capitalizing off of a Saint error. Indiana Tech added three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to seal the Saints rainy fate.

Bondy went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Saints. SHU finished with five hits while the Warriors had six.

Justin McPherson took the loss on the mound for Siena after throwing six innings for three strikeouts and allowing five runs, one earned. McReynolds earned the win for Indiana Tech, striking out four and allowing a single run in six-innings.

Siena Heights will face Indiana Tech in a double-header in Fort Wayne, starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
