Baseball Falls Again at Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped an 11-5 contest to Aquinas in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Sunday. The second half of the day's doubleheader was canceled.

Austin Hauck batted 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI for the Saints. Joe Williams contributed a 2-for-5 day with a double and two RBI, Zack Dunlop finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Dennis Sharp Jr. doubled.

SHU scored its first two runs on a Dunlop groundout in the fourth inning and a Hauck two-bagger in the fifth, but ultimately fell behind 11-2.

The visiting Saints (9-12, 5-6) struck for three runs in the ninth -- one on a Freddy Jehle sacrifice fly and two on a Williams double.

Thomas McCarter was the losing pitcher for Siena.

For Aquinas (6-12, 3-6), Mark Lepri went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI while Casey Wila finished 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs and two RBI.

Winning pitcher Bryan Mitzner allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out four batters in seven innings of work.

Siena Heights will return to action on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. non-conference doubleheader against Cleary.
