Baseball Records Two Shutout Wins Over Marygrove

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team claimed a pair of shutout victories, 16-0 and 6-0, over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent Marygrove on Wednesday at the SHU Baseball Diamond.

In the 16-0 opener, Austin Hauck finished a homer short of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a triple, double, three runs and two RBI. Carson Wlad added a 3-for-3 game with a double, two runs and three RBI.

Zack Dunlop, Eric Henderson, Drew Milligan, Dennis Sharp Jr. and Travis Stricklin added two hits apiece for the SHU offense.

Dunlop doubled twice while both Henderson and Stricklin contributed doubles. All three collected three RBI apiece.

Henderson, Milligan, Sharp, Stricklin and Lucas Bartz scored two runs each.

As a team, SHU scored six runs in the first, one run in the second and nine in the third.

Dunlop had a two-run double in the first. During the third, Hauck and Wlad smacked two-run doubles.

Tyler Butlin was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits in five innings of work. He compiled four strikeouts and three walks.

Relief pitchers Kyle Kuhr and Dan Nye threw one scoreless inning apiece.

Kyle Hartwick batted 3-for-3 with a double for Marygrove. Daniel Bailey was the losing pitcher. Reliever Trey Blandford worked 3 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run.

In the 6-0 nightcap, Brent Vaccaro was the winning pitcher. He threw six innings and allowed fuor hits while striking out four batters. Justin McPherson worked one scoreless frame.

Freddy Jehle scored two runs for the Saints while Stricklin doubled.\

SHU scored three runs in the first, getting a pair on RBI singles by Wlad and Sharp. The hosts tacked on two more runs in the second and then a single run in the fourth on an RBI two-bagger from Stricklin.

Hartwick was the Mustangs' leading offensive performer again, going 2-for-2 with a double. Losing pitcher Ryne Underwood labored four innings before reliever Jacob Baker pitched two shutout frames in relief.

The Saints will return to action this weekend with a four-game WHAC series at Aquinas.
